International Awards and Prizes

News updates:
In recent months students
of the International Piano Academy Lake Como have garnered
an impressive number of international awards. One must not
forget that our academy has only seven students yearly.
Here follows the list of honors:
LONDON, England (April 2009)
Behzod Abduraimov (Uzbekistan) won the
1st Prize at the London International
Piano Competition. Behzod who is only 18 years old, first
studied at the academy in 2007, since then he is an invited
student of the school. At present he studies with
Stanislav Ioudenitch at Park University in Missouri.
FORT WORTH, Texas, USA (June 2009)
Alessandro Deljavan (Italy) won the John
Giordano Jury Chairman Discretionary Award at the Van
Cliburn International Piano Competition, Fort Worth,
Texas.
ZUERICH, Switzerland (June 2009)
Roberto Plano (Italy) was
awarded the Special Prize of the Géza Anda Foundation
at the Géza Anda Piano Competition in Zuerich,
Switzerland..
LISBON, Portugal (July 2009)
Denis Kozhukhin (Russia) won the
prestigious VENDOME Prize in Portugal.
CLEVELAND, USA (August 2009)
Martina Filjak (Croatia) won the
1st Prize at the Cleveland International Piano
Competition, USA.
CLEVELAND, USA (August 2009)
William Hong-Chun Youn (South Korea) won
the 3rd Prize at the Cleveland International Piano
Competition, USA.
VEVEY, Switzerland (September 2009)
François Dumont (France) was one of the
three finalists at the Clara Haskil International Piano
Competition, Vevey, Switzerland.
BOLZANO, Italy (September 2009)
Alexey Lebedev (Russia), a special student
of the academy, won the 2nd Prize at the Ferruccio Busoni
International Piano Competition, Bolzano, Italy.
GENEVA, Switzerland (October 2009)
Alessandro Deljavan has been awarded
“Jeudis du Piano 2008/2009” (Prix du Jury – Prix Jean
Clostre)
HAMAMATSU CITY , Japan

François Dumont (France) won the 4th Prize
at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition,
Japan

Kirill Gerstein (Russia) won the
prestigious Gilmore Artist Award

Most of the students of the two schools have already
embarked on successful international careers and have
already performed in the greatest concert halls of the
